Today we had to edit out footage from the Bill workshop into a professional looking scene. We had to use the different shots and close ups of different characters. We encountered some problems such as a glitch in the tape and problems with volume level.

Today we worked on getting ready to film our soap opera. We made sure that every member of the group had their own task. We then considered the health and safety issues of what we are going to be filming and we decided what days we will film in order to make sure that all our actors will be able to film.

The Bill Clip
A nicely crafted clip Keeley, with some nice shots. Make sure you don't always rely on two shots when perhaps a medium shot or close up of one character might work better.

Workshop and Location Photos
Hi Keeley
Blog is looking much better and perhaps you could rename the video links to make it clearer what they are. Make sure you upload The Bill video you have completed and your photos from the location scouts you did today.

Workshop Review
On Wednesday 7th January the media student from Bishop Chandler came over to our college to do a workshop with some people who work in the media. The first thing we had to do for this workshop was an activity where we had to split into two groups and where each took a card. We then had to put ourselves in order without showing people our card but by using our tone and volume of voice. We then did the same thing but had to show other people our cards not looking at then ourselves, we then had to guess our card by the tone of other people's voices. I think this part of the day was very helpful as it showed me the importance of how things are said and tone of voice in media.
After doing this a few students were called up to act out a scene from the Bill while the two who worked in the media told them what to do and how to improve the way it looked. I think this was very helpful as it gave us an idea of the different camera shots we could use (e.g. master-shot) it also showed us how to direct and act etc.
We then separated into groups and had to film the scene ourselves. We gave each-other roles for the filming (e.g. Directing, Co- directing, acting, filming) so that nobody was left without anything to do. Because our group finished a lot earlier than the other groups we filmed the scene quite a few times and swapped everyones roles each time. Although I was a little worried about the fact that we finished so much earlier than everyone I do think that it was a good thing because everyone had an opportunity to do each job and find out what we are best at. On the last period of the day one of the visitors who work in media went through each line with our group and showed the actors how they could improve their performances.
The very last activity that we took part in was a question and answer with the visitors so that we could ask them what we wanted to know about working in the media industry. I think that this was one of the most useful parts of the day because I found a lot of useful information about working in media.

Today we did a workshop with the media class from bishop chandler. We were put into groups and had to act out a script from the bill. We finished quite quickly so we swapped the roles around so we each had the oppertunity to act, direct, film etc.
